Christmas party games for the whole family
It's great when the whole family gets together at Christmas, but sometimes it can be a bit chaotic!
It can be difficult to integrate the generations on Christmas day. With everyone having different interests guests can split off into different groups and do their own thing.
To bring everyone together and prise them from their screens, here are some great Christmas game ideas that'll get everyone involved:
Christmas chocolate game
You'll need
Block of chocolate
Festive dressing up items (Santa hat / Elf hat / Elf ears etc)
Oven mitt/mittens
Chopping block
Knife and fork
2 dice
How to play
Put the chocolate bar on the chopping board with the knife and fork on a table
Place the dressing up items next to the chopping board
Player 1 rolls the dice until they get a double
The player hands the dice to the next person, then puts on the dressing up items and mittens and tries to cut a square of chocolate with the knife and fork
Meanwhile player 2 rolls the dice - when they roll a double they switch places with player 1
… and so on
Christmas Bingo
You'll need
Bingo cards (you can get the kids involved in making these or print out this template)
Pens
How to play
Give each player a Bingo card and pen
One person is the Bingo caller
The caller calls out the Christmas item and players cross them off if they're on their card
Once a person has a full horizontal line crossed off they call 'Elf' (for a small prize)
The first person who has all the squares crossed off calls 'Santa' and wins the game
Guess the Christmas stocking item
You'll need
Christmas stocking (with a ribbon/band to tie up)
Number of household objects
Pen and paper for each player
How to play
Someone puts a number of items in a Christmas stocking and ties up the top
The stocking is passed around each guest
Players feel the objects inside the stocking and write down each item they can identify
The player with the most correct objects wins
20 Christmas questions
How to play
Someone picks a Christmas themed item
The rest of the players take it in turns to ask one yes/no question to try to guess what it is
If the item isn't correctly guessed within 20 questions, the person answering picks another item and the game starts again
If the item is guessed correctly within 20 questions, the next player gets to choose an object and answer the questions
Christmas charades
How to play
Write down a list of Christmas based songs, films, pantomimes, books
Divide the group into teams (depending on how many people there are 3+ per team - mixed age groups)
One person in the team is given something on the list to act out without speaking
Firstly they indicate what category, then how many words by holding up their fingers
The actor then holds up their finger/s to let their team know which word they're going to act out
They let their team know how many syllables are in the word by resting that number of fingers on their arm
The team scores points if they guess correctly within 1 minute
We hope this brings the party together for you this Christmas!
